Stormie Séibold was identified as the pilot of an aircraft that crashed on 2 May 2023 in Big Bear City, near Paradise Way & Maltby Boulevard.
Two of his friends were also traveling to Big Bear Airport. The crash claimed the lives of the three men. The Big Bear Fire Department, along with the Sheriff’s Department, responded to an initial report of an aircraft accident.
Chardelle Smit, the public information officer for Big Bear Fire Department, said that the call came in at 2:01pm on Tuesday.
Fire crews found that the plane had significant damage despite the absence of smoke and flames. They arrived in just three minutes.

Stormie Seibold was 60 years old and a Temecula native. She died with two other people – Jimmy Fitzpatrick 62 from Perris and Robert Carty 79 from Lake Havasu in Arizona.
Seibold was also identified by as the aircraft owner.
According to NTSB preliminary investigation, the single engine Beechcraft A36 crash occurred in a small, vacant field, about a mile to the east of Big Bear Airport. This is where the plane was believed to be headed.
The Big Bear Fire Department’s Battalion Chief Luke Wagner said that there were no structural damages and no fires, which is pretty amazing when you consider the number of homes in the area.
The NTSB investigates the cause of the accident by looking at the location of the crash, air traffic communication, radar data, and weather reports. It also interviews potential witnesses.
Goss, Big Bear Airport’s general manager, said that the airport did not receive a distress call. Ryan Goss said that the general manager of Big Bear Airport did not receive or hear any distress signal prior to the crash.
Stormie was a loving family man

Kay Seibold revealed to Stormie Seibold that her husband had at least 25-years of experience in flying and was always prepared for emergencies.
The 60-year old’s wife, who was devastated by his death, spoke of how they had promised to die together because they wouldn’t have been able to survive without each other.
Kay revealed that her late husband, a friend and their Beechcraft A36 single-engine took off from French Valley Airport.
Then, they drove to Corona Municipal Airport and picked up another friend. They flew to Big Bear in order to see a plane for sale.
The plane crashed approximately a quarter-mile from Big Bear Airport and killed all three men.
Kay Seibold recalled that her late husband would fly alone in bad weather and windy conditions to learn to land in the right direction when the wind blew in a certain direction.
Kay Siebold said that Stormie Seibold was a man who always strived to be the best at what he does.
