After spending months in hospital, Princess Charlene returned home to Monaco in November of 2021. In November 2021 the palace announced she was resting, and that all of her activities had been canceled due to illness, which was primarily attributable to fatigue. She then spent four months in a Swiss clinic for a period of recovery.

Early in 2021, Princess Charlene was diagnosed with a severe ear-nose-and throat infection (ENT), which began her long list of health issues. However, complications developed, preventing her to fly back to Monaco.
Charlene was in South Africa over six months and underwent two more surgeries. In 2021, Charlene collapsed in South Africa due to complications from the surgery. She was hospitalized at Netcare Alberlito Hospital. In a press release, the palace confirmed her hospitalization. It also noted that her medical team deemed her condition to be reassuring.
Charlene returned to Monaco in early November after her doctors cleared her for travel. It appears, however, that Charlene’s health has declined again since her return. Charlene, according to Prince Albert is receiving treatment at a facility outside Monaco.
He said that Charlene’s condition was due to emotional and physical exhaustion, and that she would need clinical care for a few weeks. Prince Albert said that Charlene’s first hours in Monaco were relatively good, but it was clear that she wasn’t feeling well.
