Paul James O’Grady, MBE DL was born in 1955 on June 14th and died on March 28th 2023. He was an English multi-talented personality who worked as a comedian and broadcaster. He also wrote, acted, and performed as a drag queen. In the 1980s, he gained fame in the London gay scene by performing under his drag alter-ego Lily Savage. He then gained wider recognition in 1990s.

O’Grady, who was born to a working-class Irish migrant family in Tranmere, Cheshire, abandoned her Lily Savage persona during the 2000s and began hosting several radio and television programs, such as The Paul O’Grady Show. Paul O’Grady was born in Tranmere to an Irish immigrant working class family. He moved to London in late 1970s and began his career as a peripatetic social worker for Camden Council.
