Is Paul Cauthen Arrested?
Paul Cauthen, a South Carolina resident, was arrested on the morning of 18th May for various drug charges. He was accused of possessing a Schedule I controlled drug, and manufacturing and possessing controlled substances in Schedule I, III, or II with the intention to distribute them.
Initial, Cauthen’s publicist stated that the charges related to marijuana. Later, however, it became clear that he had also been charged with illegal possession prescription drugs such as Xanax or Diazepam. The bust revealed that heroin and cocaine had been found in Cauthen’s bus. However, he wasn’t charged for the drugs.
A police report states that an officer observed Cauthen’s silver tourbus illegally parked at Ocean Blvd. and Pavilion Dr. An officer noticed the smell of marijuana as he passed the bus. This prompted an investigation. Cauthen, along with two others, were outside the bus when the incident occurred.
Cauthen confessed to possessing approximately 1 ounces of marijuana in the suitcase he had on board. The bus was evacuated when additional officers arrived.
Cauthen handed over the bag of marijuana voluntarily. A search was then conducted in the common area of the bus based on probable causes. A search of the common area revealed multiple sealed bags containing marijuana, a bag containing a powdery white substance, pills and other drug paraphernalia.
Cauthen admitted to having Xanax, Diazepam and marijuana without a prescription. He also claimed ownership of the entire bus. No one took responsibility for the powdery white substances that were found.

Paul Cauthen, a country singer from South Carolina, has cancelled two of his concerts after his arrest for drug offenses in South Carolina. Fans were surprised by the cancellation of two concerts, one in Knoxville on Friday and another in Hurricane Mills in Tennessee on Saturday.
Cauthen apologized to his fans and cited “extenuating circumstance” as the cause of the cancellation. He said that more details will be released in the future and encouraged everyone to be nice to each other.

Who is Paul Cauthen?
Paul Mark Cauthen is an American singer/songwriter from East Texas. He began his musical career as part of Sons of Fathers, a duo that combines Americana/indie-folk-rock. He pursued a career as a solo artist and released three albums, an EP and his latest work “Country Coming Down” in April 2022.
Cauthen was raised in a religious home in Dallas, Texas. His father served as a leader of songs in the conservative Christian Church of Christ while his uncle preached there.
His father and his uncle both performed as a duo in the church. Cauthen grew up singing traditional hymns acappella, since the church didn’t allow instruments. He said that if he had remained in church he would be a fifth generation song leader or pastor.
Cauthen has deep family roots in Texas. His grandmother’s side is from West Texas as well as parts of New Mexico, due to the father’s oil industry occupation. His father’s family has roots in Texas that go back five generations, and he also has connections with Montgomery, Alabama where his paternal grandpa attended school alongside Hank Williams.
The singer has a close relationship with his maternal grandfather Jim Paul Cauthen who died when he was just 10 years old. Cauthen’s grandfather, who was a musician himself, gave him his first guitar. He played an important role in his musical growth.
Jim Paul Cauthen taught Cauthen, his sisters and their parents how to sing harmony from a young age. Cauthen also received piano lessons from his grandmother. Jim Paul Cauthen was a friend of Buddy Holly, who led The Crickets. He also had a long history with Sonny Curtis.
