Caroline Vincinette LoTempio was an American singer better known as April Stevens. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York on April 29, 1930. Her solo recording “I’m In Love Again” reached number six in the pop chart in 1951. In 1951, the song reached No. 6 on pop charts. Henri Rene arranged and conducted the song.
April Stevens became well-known for her collaboration with Ninotempo on their version of “Deep Purple.” Their song “Teach Me Tiger,” which was released in 1959, caused controversy because of its sexual suggestion and received limited airplay.
The song’s version won the Grammy Award in 1963 for Best Rock & Roll Recording. In 1973, the duo achieved great success in The Netherlands with “Where Do I Begin?” Love Story, which reached No. 5 on the charts, was also a hit in 1973. Love Story peaked at No.
April Stevens, in her autobiography “Teach Me, Tiger”, revealed that, despite claiming to be younger during her early career, she was born in 1929.
