Who is Chris Goodman?
Christopher Goodman was an English author and clergyman who died in 1603. He was born in 1520, and his reformation involvement is well-known. He was part of a group known as Marian Exiles who fled England during the Counter-Reformation, under Queen Mary I.
Goodman made a significant contribution with a piece of writing that examined the limits of obedience towards rulers. He also played a part in the Geneva Bible, an English translation of the Bible that is widely known. Goodman was friends with John Knox, an influential figure. After Mary’s death, Goodman travelled to Scotland and then returned to England. It is important to note that Goodman had a difficult time conforming to the norms of his day.
