Jeremy Schobel was arrested on June 8, after allegedly catfishing two teenagers using social media. ABC reported that Schobel, a 31-year-old teacher, pretended to look like a female 17-year-old to gain the trust of youths and to collect sexually explicit photos and videos for Snapchat. Authorities in Harriton claimed that Schobel admitted to using similar techniques for many years. Lower Merion officials informed the parents of both teenagers of the incident on the day they were arrested. Schobel’s school district had noted his lack of convictions when he was hired as a Harriton high school teacher. If convicted, Schobel will have to register as a criminal and lose his teaching credential.

Both accounts were linked to the phone number of Jeremy Schobel. Schobel could have interacted directly with children at his workplace, say school administrators.
