In his sophomore year, Wolff showed off his talent when he won consecutive stroke-play titles at both the Carmel Cup Invitational and the OFCC Fighting Illini Invitational. His impressive performance continued when he shared the medalist honours at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.
Three consecutive victories propelled Wolff into the top college rankings. As a result of his talent, he was granted a sponsor’s exemption at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and made his PGA Tour début.

What happened to Matt Wolff
Brooks Koepka is a professional golfer who has voiced his dissatisfaction over his teammate Matthew Wolff. This comes ahead of a golf tournament in Hertfordshire (England). Both players are members of the LIV Golf League, which is sponsored by Saudi Arabia. Wolff has struggled in recent tournaments and withdrew due to an injury that was not disclosed.
Koepka criticised Wolff for leaving his round at the previous event. He said that this was against the spirit of competition in the sport. He was frustrated by Wolff’s lackluster performance, saying that it was difficult to create a positive team dynamic with a member who refuses to put in the effort and exhibits negative behaviors on the course such as breaking clubs or displaying bad body language. Koepka suggested that he had given up on Wolff despite his talent being wasted.
Wolff responded by saying that he was focused on performing his best golf for the benefit of the team. He confirmed that he was healthy and dedicated to perform well.
Wolff had previously spoken about his mental health struggles. He openly acknowledged that he had difficulty getting out of bed after a difficult Masters tournament in 2020. The following year he took a break of two months from the PGA Tour in order to focus on his mental health. Wolff viewed LIV Golf’s less demanding schedule as being a positive for his mental well-being.
It should also be noted that Wolff has been reduced in the social media presence of Smash GC, as his Instagram and twitter handles have been removed from their bios. Smash GC is a team led by Brooks Koepka that also includes Chase Koepka as well as Jason Kokrak.
