Mark Asber, a Niles resident, died Sunday after being shot. The alleged shooter is reported to be a Cook County Sheriff’s Corrections Officer.
Niles Police arrived at the Miraj nightclub, located on Milwaukee Avenue in Niles after 1pm on Sunday following a fight that occurred in the parking area.
Mark Asber, 22 years old, was found wounded. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. Medical professionals declared him dead shortly thereafter.
The police have investigated the case and arrested the suspect.

Mark Asber Niles Shot To Death
Mark Asber was killed in a hospital, after being shot at least one time during a dispute on the parking lot of an evening club.
Police officers responded to a 911 call at 1:03am on Sunday reporting that a person had been shot. They arrived at the scene.Mark Asber, 22, was found by Niles Police with a gunshot injury.
In a press release, the authorities stated that they found a man with at least one bullet wound on the parking lot of the nightclub at 8801 N. Milwaukee Ave. They immediately began life-saving procedures.
Mark Asber was transported by the Niles Fire Department to a hospital nearby, where he later died.
According to the police report of Monday, Mark H. Asber (22), of Niles’ Wisner street, has been identified.
Officials have also revealed that detectives from Niles are working with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office on the case. Asber was known to the shooter prior to the incident.
The police stated that this incident appeared to be isolated, and that there was no danger in the area.
Alan J. Kettina is Arrested and Charged
A corrections officer from the Cook County Sheriff’s office was charged with murder following a shooting outside a nightclub in Niles, a northern suburb.
Alan Kettina of Salem Walk was accused of first-degree murder. The Cook County Sheriff’s office confirmed that Kettina worked as a corrections officers at the time.
Alan Kettina is a corrections officer who joined the Cook Country Sheriff’s Office in November 2021.Cook Country Sherriff’s Correctional Officer has been arrested and accused in connection with Mark Asber’s Death.
He was removed from his position on Sunday in connection with an investigation by the Nile Police Department.
Shereen Mohammed, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, said that “the Sheriff’s Office will cooperate in any way possible with the investigation, and refers all questions to Niles Police Department.”
Alan Kettina is due to appear in bond court in the case of Mark Asber, on Tuesday.
Security Camera Captures The Incident
The security footage shows the suspect parking his car and the shooting.
Jennifer Ravin, Assistant State’s attorney, said the victim was busy at Miraj. After leaving the nightclub, he got into the suspect’s Jeep.
Asber and Kettina drove for a few moments before Asber got off Kettina’s car. The prosecutor stated that Alan Kettina had shot Mark in the rear as he walked away.
The defendant admitted to the police that the victim was shot as he turned his back. He claimed he knew he had done wrong.
Kettina’s lawyers claim that the victim intimidated and threatened him, as well as his family, if he didn’t bring contraband to the Cook County Jail.
