Legs and Co
Legs & Co., a popular dance group created in 1976 by the BBC for its weekly Top of the Pops show, lasted until 1981. The group was created after Ruby Flipper (a mixed-race and mixed-gender group) was terminated because of its lackluster reception by the television audience. Legs & Co. consisted of six female dancers who were choreographed and performed by Flick Collby. Flick was originally a member of the group.
Legs & Co. performed on the show over 300 times during their tenure. They became an icon of the show, reverting to the previous all-female format. They performed during the peak of disco, new wave, and punk music.
Legs & Co. became popular because of their energetic and synchronized dance routines, which complemented the music in the show. After their final Top of the Pops appearance, the group continued to tour for four more years and their popularity grew beyond the show.
Since 2016, some of the members have appeared in documentaries, and on other occasions. In 2017, they all appeared three times at Shaun Tilley’s Top of the Pop Playback.
Legs & Co.’s performances on Top of the Pops are better preserved than those of the other three dance groups, Go-Jos and Pan’s People. This is due to the BBC’s improved archiving process and the increased number of off-air recordings dating back to the mid-1970s. It is important that Legs & Co.’s performances are preserved for future generations.

Since 2016, and 2017, the rest of the members have appeared in media and documentaries. This includes Gill Clark, Rosie Hetherington and Lulu Cartwright. Also, Pauline Peters and Anita Mahadevan. Shaun Tilley’s Top of the Pop Playback featured some of the members three times. There are no recent updates or news on the current location or activities of these members.

She was a finalist at Miss UK, an annual beauty pageant held in the United Kingdom. Pauline Peters also joined the group. She had performed in West End musicals and stage shows. Rosie Hetherington was the youngest member, aged 17 years old. She had a background in dance as a member a local dance group before Legs & Co discovered her.
Legs & Co. members were well-known for their unique personalities and dance styles. The group had become a phenomenon among music lovers and gained a loyal fan base over the years. After leaving Top of the Pops, they continued touring for another four years. Many of the members of the group left the band at the end of the Top of the Pops era.
Patti Hammond died on September 15, 2021 at age 71, after a long illness. Gill Clark, Rosie Hetherington Lulu Cartwright Sue Menhenick Pauline Peters and Anita Mahadevan are the other members. They have appeared in documentaries since 2016.
Since then, they have not been heard from. The current location of the remaining members is unknown.
